Walleye
5/23/10 – This was a late start day. We put the boat in at 3 pm and fished till 10 pm. The water temp was hovering around 62 – 65 degrees and we had a NE wind that gave us a nice little chop. The water was gin clear and the weeds are growin up like mad. Last year at this time,it was tough to find any weeds and this year they’re almost to the surface already. Gotta love photosythesis! ;) So,first up was a decent size largie I got rippin cranks thru the coontail. The rest of the day we caught what I call “starter” pike. (Hammer handles) My frend caught one real nice one, short but huge belly and thickness on em. Towards evening the moon rose up and positioned perfectly in the clear evening sky,so we stuck around to see if the eyes would turn on and good thing we did. It was one of those evenings where you place yourself right where they should be coming in and start casting at the time they should start moving and everything just works out perfect. Great times…I didn’t catch a whole lot of fish but I had a great time and I enjoyed every fish that ticked, slammed, smacked, nibbled or yanked my line… ;) Oh and I’m fishing with Hank Parker the first week in June in Traverse City,MI. and I’m so super excited. ;)
